Maternal-Fetal Health Training in Peru
First Accomplishment - Peru Maternal-Fetal Health Training - During the week of April 19 - 27, 2024, from Thursday, April 19 - Saturday March 27, fourteen (14) Humanitarians, including 2 doctors, 1 nurse, 1 orthopedic surgeon, and 1 nurse anesthetist from the U.S. provided free training to more than 200 Maternal-Fetal Health professionals in Abancay 70, Cusco 80, and Sicuani 50, Peru, on issues and problems associated with pregnancy, labor, delivery, and recovery from childbirth. Topics included post-partum hemorrhage, perineal repair, difficult deliveries, newborn resucitation, and hypertension. We donated items for local trainers to train many others. Donated time included more than 100 hours combined. While the medical trainers provided hands-on workshops, our humanitarian team went to a school in a high-elevation, Andean village and an orphanage in Abancay, where we did activities with the school children and did activities and provided supplies and food stuffs to the children in the orphanage. Second Accomplishment - Our Executive Director and his wife finished their 2 1/2 year service from January through August of 2024. They helped more than 60 students with life-changing internship experiences and instructed 26 students in Hospitality and Tourism management topics and arranged outreach work experiences at 7 hospitality and tourism venues for all 26 students. The internship experiences lasted from 2 to 6 months long.
