SMAC was founded in 1982 and was originally known as the Central Area Swim Team (CAST) and then Central Area Aquatic Team (CAAT). In 2018 Central Area Aquatic Team (CAAT) saw significant expansion and became the Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club (SMAC). A name that better represents our geography across the region.
