Community Environmental Action
Toxics Action Center Campaigns' Build Community Power program provides lobbying, training, and direct assistance to residents in New England to clean up and prevent environmental pollution in their communities. Specifically, we provide them with: A network of community groups to share strategies and concerns with, referrals to legal, technical, and public health experts, strategies to encourage polluting industry and governmental officials to act. Conferences, summits, and training to bring together residents to work in a group setting. Direct lobbying work to further environmental pollution-reduction programs and campaigns. We work on the following campaigns: The Campaign to Clean Up Hazardous Waste - assists residents working to clean up legacy toxic waste sites which have polluted drinking water, air, and land. This campaign includes lobbying towards these goals. The Pollution Prevention Project - works with residents and lobbies to encourage companies to use and produce fewer toxic chemicals; our program works to cut back on industrial chemical use of toxic materials in schools and homes and keep toxic chemicals out of sewage sludge. The Pesticide Reduction Project - works with residents and lobbies to reduce pesticide use by municipalities, agricultural operations, lawn care businesses, and consumers. The Zero Waste Project - works with residents and lobbies to oppose unsafe waste facilities and to encourage zero waste policies including waste reduction, recycling, and composting.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2021 – Jun 30, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$23.1K
