NCTQ works to improve student reading and math outcomes through high-quality instruction. NCTQ's Teacher Prep Review work provides the latest information on how teacher preparation programs across the country prepare aspiring teachers to teach elementary subjects, including reading and math. NCTQ is the only organization in the country to conduct this kind of review. NCTQ's State Policy work advances strong, cohesive policy to ensure more students have access to evidence-based, high-quality reading and math instruction. NCTQ engages with policy makers, education agencies and advocates across the country, developing policy recommendations and providing training and technical assistance to improve the policies that shape the teaching profession and ensure the strong implementation of key legislation.

NCTQ's State Policy work engages with policy makers, school districts and advocates across the country to improve the policies that shape the teaching profession. NCTQ has amassed the largest repository of data on the teacher workforce outside the U.S. government, and leverages its data and analytic capacity to drive impact at state and local levels. NCTQ's State Teacher Policy Database brings together data and analysis from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. It provides access to information on state policies, laws, and regulations that impact teacher quality - ranging from teacher preparation and licensing to teacher diversity and hiring to evaluation and compensation. The Policy Database lays out a blueprint for reform, analyzing state data, highlighting policy trends and best practices, and offering recommendations for state policymakers and advocates.

NCTQ has amassed the largest repository of data on the teacher workforce outside the U.S. government and leverages its extensive data and analytic capacity to drive impact at state and local levels. NCTQ's Teacher Contract Database is the only one-stop collection of teacher contracts, board policies, school calendars, and salary schedules for 150 large school districts, including the nation's 100 largest districts and the largest district in every state. The Contract Database tracks and analyzes district policy, allowing NCTQ to highlight trends and best practices, and offer recommendations for school districts, policymakers and advocates.
