Program 1 [2020]
The Organization provides students from Pre-K to 9th grade an opportunity to explore the richness of the Greek language, history and culture with second, third, and continuing generations of Greek-Americans therefore growing their appreciation of Greek heritage. The Organization includes a powerful support system comprised of trained teaching staff, volunteers, parents and friends as well as the communitys youth that seeks to instill values of democracy and leadership by engaging its current students and alumni in service to their community thereby keeping the spirit of service, democracy and civic engagement alive. During 2020 the Organization continued final stages of the construction of a new community facility (a property acquired in 2013). The construction of this facility includes classrooms, multi-use hall, daytime nursery, gallery space for exhibitions, rooftop play area, bookstore, library and conference rooms. The new three-story community center, is being built at 670 92nd Street in the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn, NY and will house educational and cultural programs important to the Greek-American community. This facility will be open to the public. The Organization completed the first phase of the project during 2015 including design and development, and approval from the New York City Board of Standards and Appeal for the zoning, massing, and architectural design of the proposed new structure. Construction on the facility began in 2018. During 2020 the Organization expended a total of $1,903,205 for various construction work.
