NICE (Nurturing Inclusive Community Environment) program is an innovative emotional and social support program that integrates school curricula with community-building and restorative justice techniques with the goal of supporting academic achievement and mitigating incidents of school violence. The program is a twelve-month program which aims to make schools a safe place to learn and engage through social and emotional learning (SEL)support which teaches students and school staff skills that are necessary to help students manage their emotions, work with others, and set achievable goals. CRC offers Staff and In-Classroom Workshops on the following CRC themes: cooperation, communication, affirmation, Conflict Resolution, Bias Awareness, Creative Responses to Bullying, Problem Solving. General grants are used to help fund the HYLA program and the holiday party. HYLA is designed to give middle school, high school and college freshmen youth the conference and leadership skills they need to bring about social change within their communities. The United Way funds the Re-entry support program. This is a unique workshop designed to provide vital education and support to formerly incarcerated parents and their children.
