Tribeca New Music Concerts and Webcasts
Achievements Mission: Tribeca New Music (TNM) is a not-for-profit organization that presents and performs a bold new art music, infused with American pop culture, written by a diverse and inclusive community of contemporary composers. TNM was able to successfully produce and present our live concerts and maintain our new YouTube premieres of these events. The concerts were edited in post-production and offered as PPV webcasts, increasing the overall reach, value and impact of these performances. TNM fulfilled its mission in this FY, navigating through an easing post-COVID environment. We found audiences reluctant, but slowly returning to the concert hall, as many were not yet comfortable being together in a live space environment. In addition to the concerts, our new Webcast series (designed to reach people in "lockdown") exceeded our expectations and reached more and more people. We continue to develop this successful new product for our audience. Likewise, our new TNM INVIEWS composer/performer video interviews has also been a successful addition for the public. Now in its 25th year, our national Young Composer Competition and subsequent concert/webcast was very successful, as well, with over 150 applicants participating. TNM serves the NYC new music community which is increasingly vibrant and demographically diverse as new composers and audiences of different ethnicities, sexual orientation, and viewpoints find opportunities. TNM has and continues to serve this community through its concert programming, webcasts, social media, and initiatives. The 15-member TNM advisory board is made up of composers and musicians who are on the front line of this new music community and play an import part in discovering new and diverse talent as it presents itself. Demographics: TNM surveys the audience on a periodic basis. They are a racially mixed group including approximately 70% white, 12% Asian, and 10% black and 8% Hispanic. Vocationally they include approximately 30% professional people, 50% artists, musicians, and teachers, 10% seniors, and 10% students. 72% of the audience is "very interested" in our new music programs.
