WHITE BIRD APPALOOSA HORSE RESCUE

Programs
Program 1 [2020]
Equine Rehabilitation: Feed and Hay, plus supplements for approximately 28 horses. Feed and hay are the largest cost item. Although serving more horses for part of the year than during 2019, donations of hay were higher, which helped to keep the expenses similar to 2019 despite rises in the cost of hay and feed.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$32.5KProgram 2 [2020]
Equine Rehabilitation: Includes veterinary care, farrier work, medical supplementation and health care items. Rescue horses arrive in a variety of conditions - elderly, starved, unsound, and with a range of medical problems. In 2020 the rescue continued to care for the remainder of the 4 remaining 2014 unhandled horses, long term care for sanctuary horses, as well as taking in new horses from a variety of sources. The increase in funding for this service compared to 2019 reflects the impact of the Covid-19 virus, a reduction in the number of horses, even with increases in medication and veterinary costs. The total includes rehabilitative care and end of life euthanasia when necessary.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$26.9KProgram 3 [2020]
Equine Housing: While the rescue's facilities and foster homes are donated space, horses are large, strong animals that are rough on infrastructure such as shelters and fences. The repair and upkeep of facilities and equipment to keep them usable and safe is an ongoing expense. The cost of this service reflects continuing maintenance, repair and additions to old facilities, plus the completion of new facilities purchased in 2018.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$12.7K
