Student Live Performance Program
Performance experiences: In 2024 the students had 42 performances at 14 different venues including 9 community events reaching several thousand people. About 50 students of all ages benefitted from performing live. The First Friday Music Club assists music programs at local schools by hiring professional musicians during the whole school year to assist teachers with Guitar classes Orchestra and Jazz classes. Professional musicians help individual students or small groups of students master their instrument or newly learned songs. The professionals also will help with phrasing or improvisation and any other musically more advanced techniques teachers dont have the ability to teach in a big class setting. The First Friday Music Club also provides annual Jazz workshops for Jazz class at the local Middle School which culminates in a live performance where students get a chance to perform with the professionals. There are 90 students in three guitar classes at the local High School Point Loma High School and 130 student in Guitar Orchestra and Jazz at the local Middle School Correia Middle School. The number of students vary each year depending on enrollment. In 2024 we provided a total of 162 hours of assistance benefitting 220 students. Providing music lessons at no cost to students in need is a priority spreading the love for music to all people. We are also committed to provide musical opportunities for special needs students creating ensembles for them to play with. In 2024 we provided 5 students with weekly 1 hour free music instruction for the entire year.
