The Animals & Society Institute (ASI) is a think tank whose mission is to advance human knowledge to improve animal lives. Specifically, we produce and translate research on human-animal relationships into policy and practice. This includes providing individuals with the evidence-based tools and resources they need to be effective in their work, whether that is treating people who abuse animals, studying animals in literature, or conducting animal-assisted therapy. Human-Animal Studies (HAS) is our primary program. Examples of our resources include two leading HAS journals that have been in publication for over 20 years, an annual summer institute for early-career professionals, two animal abuse prevention and treatment models (AniCare(R) and BARKTM).
