Programs
Core Program
The Core Program is not a starting point for leadership development, but rather a process for leaders to refine and enhance their commitment to shaping Rhode Island’s future. Graduates join Leadership Rhode Island’s network of 2,800+ alumni, and gain access to 700,000+ leaders through a National Leadership Network. The Core Program provides a return on investment for individuals, their organizations, and the community at large. Individuals -Develop leadership competencies that drive performance (visioning, collaboration, strategic thinking, appreciation for diversity and inclusiveness, emotional intelligence and coalition building) -Understand personal strengths and leadership style -Access mentorship from peer leaders with diverse life experiences Organizations -Expand your professional and business network across sectors and industries -Forge strategic alliances and innovative partnerships -Acquire resources that accelerate solutions to organizational and business challenges Community -Discover civic assets, issues and stakeholders -Advance personal purpose and pathways towards meaningful contributions -Facilitate dialogue addressing community issues and drive change Curriculum Each year, Leadership Rhode Island selects a diverse group of established and emerging leaders to participate in an experiential community leadership program framed around statewide issues. Class members engage in shared experiences, events, socials, community engaged projects, strengths-based coaching, and individual learning opportunities. The program consists of an overnight retreat, ten monthly daylong sessions, and a small-group project. Session Day curriculum is developed by a program committee of selected LRI alumni, with a focus on experiential learning approach that includes virtual and in person experiences, events, socials, community engaged projects, strengths-based coaching, and individual learning opportunities.GeographiesRhode Island, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedLeadership developmentAdults3K–College Leadership Rhode Island
College Leadership Rhode Island (CLRI) is designed for motivated minds, innovative thinkers, and active learners, 26 years of age or younger. As an organization, we believe in the power of shared experience and diverse perspectives. That’s why the CLRI program is open to individuals in all areas of study and career paths. Since 2004, the CLRI program has inspired, educated, and engaged more than 500 young adults, helping to set them up for success as they navigate post-secondary life and early career. Running concurrently with the academic year (September-May), class members will explore careers in the nonprofit, private, and public sectors, build relationships with the Rhode Island community, and develop skills that will contribute to the careers of their choice. The program is a comprehensive experience where class members can elevate their own abilities, grow within a diverse cohort, and become engaged members of the Rhode Island community. CLRI class members can expect to: -Identify and grow their personal leadership qualities through individualized coaching -Develop the skills needed to build their early careers, while exploring career pathways across sectors and industries -Access peer support, professional networks, and circles of influence to build their civic and professional engagement in Rhode Island -Create a common understanding within their class to bridge differences -Engage in activities that will challenge them to develop skills and behaviors leading to career preparedness -Explore industries and organizations that they may not have had the opportunity to prior to the programGeographiesRhode Island, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedLeadership developmentYoung adults500–Senior Fellows Program
The Leadership Rhode Island Senior Fellows Program, in partnership with Age-Friendly Rhode Island, is an 8-week summer program geared to lifting the voices, knowledge, and vision of Rhode Island residents 62 and older. Thanks to generous support from Age-Friendly Rhode Island, this program is offered at no cost to participants. Over the course of the Senior Fellows Program, participants meet a diverse group of leaders from across the state working on challenges facing older adults, including transportation, food insecurity, ageism, arts and culture, housing, and more. In addition, participants will expand their civic possibilities by learning different ways to engage with their interests and passions at the state and local level. In joining this group of leaders, participants will help support Age-Friendly Rhode Island’s mission to create partnerships, catalyze change, and build a community that supports and empowers aging Rhode Islanders.GeographiesRhode Island, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedSelf-advocacy,Leadership developmentOlder adults,Seniors25–
