Land Preservation
Hunterdon Land Trust (HLT) is a nonprofit conservation organization founded in 1996 to preserve and protect the natural resources of Hunterdon County. To date, we have preserved over 12,600 acres of forests, family farms, and streams and manage 8 nature preserves. Our headquarters is located in Flemington, NJ, in the heart of Hunterdon County, at the Dvoor Farm which is an iconic landmark with historic buildings and acres of peaceful natural surroundings.GeographiesHunterdon County, NJ, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedBiodiversity,Climate change,Environmental education,Natural resourcesAge groups––Stewardship Saturdays
Stewardship plays a critical role in our mission. Make a difference by helping us care for Hunterdon County’s special places so they can be enjoyed by all. Join Hunterdon Land Trust for Stewardship Saturdays at our public access preserves! Our team will join you at one of our preserves to accomplish stewardship tasks, ranging from trail upkeep to invasive species removal to wildlife monitoring. No prior knowledge or experience is required – just enthusiasm to care for our natural lands! These workdays are also a great chance to learn more about joining our Preserve Stewards volunteer program.GeographiesHunterdon County, NJ, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedBiodiversity,Climate change,Environmental education,Natural resourcesAge groups––Dvoor Farm Rehabilitation
DVOOR FARM – A CENTER FOR INSPIRATION, EDUCATION, AND CONNECTION Since taking title to the Dvoor Farm in 1999, the Hunterdon Land Trust (HLT) has worked toward fulfilling the property’s potential as a community resource. This historic treasure with its iconic barns and late 18th-century farmhouse, became the organization’s headquarters in late 2010. Now HLT is writing a new chapter in the Dvoor Farm’s story. In the summer of 2024, we completed the first phase of a project to transform the Farm’s historic Bank Barn into a state-of-the-art event space. When complete, the Bank Barn complex will be able to accommodate 250 to 300 guests, making it one of the largest indoor venues in the area. This project will not only enhance the Dvoor Farm as a regional destination but provide a stable source of revenue for HLT and bring downstream economic benefits to the surrounding community. As we prepare to launch Phase II, we invite you to join us. With your support, we can transform the Dvoor Farm into all it can and should be — a revitalized community resource reimagined for the 21st century.GeographiesHunterdon County, NJ, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedCommunity improvement,Economic development,Biodiversity,Climate change,Environmental education,Natural resourcesAge groups––
