Max Planck Florida Corporation established its first scientific department in the summer of 2009 and has expanded to two research divisions and six research groups to fulfill its purpose to expand knowledge of the biosciences, and educate and train young scientists for biomedical research. The eight research labs focus in the areas of disorders of neural circuit function, mechanisms of synaptic signaling & computation, functional architecture & development of visual cortex, cellular organization of cortical circuit function, molecular mechanisms of synaptic function, neuronal signal transduction, cellular basis of neural circuit plasticity and development & function of inhibitory neural circuits.
