Chorale Performance and Fellowship Program
During the Chorale's 31th season we returned to fully normal operations after the major disruptions caused by the pandemic. Rehearsals were held at Reformation Lutheran Church with Zoom available for those who couldn't attend in-person. All performances were pay what you can with suggested ticket payments ranging from $15-$30 and we continued to improve our ability to record and live stream our performances to reach audience members unable to attend in person. In December we performed "Ella: Swinging Christmas", featuring Jazz standards accompanied by a full Jazz band. Our March concert featured the music of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel. In June our program focused on Shaker music, particularly music composed by Shaker women, such as Mother Ann. Our composer in residence, Kevin Siegfried, joined us for this concert as he has been instrumental in preserving and publishing this music. We also hosted our first ever Drummond Fellow director through our new Drummond Fellowship program, which allows an up-and-coming choral director to direct occasional rehearsals, organize and put on their own concert, and receive mentorship and support from CHC's director and board. Throughout the season, 100 or more singers participated in each of these concerts. Over 1,500 tickets were sold during the season, including many for households that continued to enjoy streamed concerts. Social activities to support our singers included holiday and year-end parties and special interest activities. Our usual community singing resumed with holiday caroling at Eastern Market and other small events.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesSep 1, 2023 – Aug 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$0
