Program 1 [2020]
Green Tech provided career technical education services to 65 youth and young adults in Sacramento. Students have been introduced to emerging career opportunities in clean energy, construction, agriculture, urban forestry, computer programming, engineering, and environmental protection. Green Tech students built 12 planter boxes and planted 43 trees in Sacramentos low-income Oak Park and Del Paso Heights communities. The organization grew nearly 20 pounds of produce including carrots, garlic, blueberries, tomatoes, muscadine grapes, various herbs (sage, chives, thyme, oregano and basil). We donated the produce to Green Tech students, families and neighbors in the Oak Park community.Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Green Tech shifted its outdoor programming to virtual programming online using the ZOOM platform. We taught resume writing, interview techniques, financial literacy and business communication skills to 24 youth and young adults ages 16-21.Partnered with CBO Mutual Assistance Network to train 15 senior high school students in career technical education. Classroom InstructionInstruction Green Tech students are introduced to Career Technical Education (CTE) curriculum within the clean energy economy and career opportunities through interactive discussions, multi-media and special guest presentations. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Green Tech classroom instruction was offered through the virtual platform ZOOM online. We provided financial literacy, resume writing, job search training and entrepreneurial training.
