    Welcoming America is a nonprofit leading a movement of inclusive communities becoming more prosperous by ensuring everyone belongs, including immigrants.Using its innovative, place-based approach, Welcoming America worked with partners to create a climate and policy environment where more individuals including immigrants and refugees were able to participate more fully in social, civic and economic life, contributing to a more prosperous and vibrant community for all. This included establishing new infrastructure in communities to support immigrant inclusion, as well as the creation of new policies and practices in localities that helped to build bridges between new and long-time residents; expand economic opportunity; increase equitable access to services and enable more New Americans to participate in civic life.Welcoming America grew and connected the movement of leaders working to foster inclusive communities, building a growing network of local government and nonprofit members working nationwide, supporting thousands of leaders through trainings, tools, and expertise on building welcoming communities and strengthening ties among neighbors across lines of difference.In 2020, Welcoming America launched the Resilient Rapid Response Initiative to assist our members with immediate needs in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the Resilient Rapid Response fund, our members translated COVID-19 information on public transportation into multiple languages; formed stronger community partnerships to rally support for immigrant residents; created mask sewing cooperatives; and launched financial hotlines for immigrants to get financial advice in their native language. Welcoming America also offered members a series of webinars on supporting immigrant-owned businesses and fundraising; coaching on language access best practices; and a community of practice on inclusive emergency management.Welcoming America continued to expand Certified Welcoming -- a program based on the Welcoming Standard, a comprehensive set of policies, programs, processes, and partnerships that are core to immigrant inclusion.In 2020, Welcoming America added three additional places to the growing list of Certified Welcoming cities and counties -- City of Baltimore, Montgomery County (Maryland), and City of Erie (Pennsylvania) -- increasing the total of Certified Welcoming places to 11.Welcoming America also grew the welcoming movement through partnerships, events and campaigns that engaged thousands of Americans - including as a partner in the Belonging Begins with US campaign and through the annual event, Welcoming Week.

    Welcoming America is a nonprofit organization that supports communities building a welcoming society where every person, including immigrants, can fully contribute and shape our shared prosperity. We envision a just world in which we each belong, prosper, and thrive in the place we now call home, no matter where we came from. Welcoming America offers an approach to demographic shifts that bends toward equity and justice rather than inequality and nativist policies.Grounded in the leadership of communities, we connect, support, and amplify those leading the work of addressing the systemic disparities and discrimination encountered by immigrants, advancing a strong foundation of welcoming in local communities.Our work includes growing and connecting the movement of leaders working to foster inclusive communities, building a growing network of local government and nonprofit members working nationwide, supporting thousands of leaders through training, tools, and expertise on building welcoming communities, and strengthening ties among neighbors across lines of difference.In 2023, we continued to expand our impact and build on the prior year's accomplishments by maintaining the Welcoming Network with 275 members;supporting a Welcoming International Alliance of 6 global partners; reaching the milestone of 23 Certified Welcoming communities; providing more than 600 hours of coaching and training; and engaging over 3,800 participants through events, webinars, and training programs. Welcoming America also launched an updated Welcoming Standard and Certified Welcoming program.
