In 2024 New Story Leadership was faced by the challenges of the outbreak of war in the region which forced NSL to pivot to supporting a group of 10 alumni who remained active in supporting a post-peace reality in the region. It was difficult to get visas and to identify Israeli or Palestinian youth for a new class of delegates in this time of crisis. Nevertheless this pivot allowed us to bring a delegation of alumni involved in this NSL-sponsored peace-making project to share their ideas with Congress and with our traditional audiences in the greater Washington DC area. They shared their ideas for what a new story of human rights equity and shared values would look like and how it could be achieved presenting their Phoenix Framework outlining ideas for addressing key issues that will need to be addressed once peace is achieved. The chapters of the Phoenix Framework based upon issues successful actions and solutions used in similar global situations include: : Gaza Reconstruction Responsive Governance in both Israel and Palestine Restorative Justice the Role of the International Community Preparing the Public for Peace and Trauma Informed Healing and Recovery. The goal of the Framework is to inspire new conversations actions and policies whether in the halls of power or in private homes faith communities on media platforms or on the streets through tangible holistic and innovative ideas. NSLs programming in 2024 focused upon sharing these ideas with audiences in the U.S. and internationally. NSL alumni continued to speak about their vision in a number of U.S. and international forums including an International Day of Peace Presentation in Burlington Vermont Peacecon through a visibility webinar with like-minded faith communities and groups in the Washington area including the Jewish Islamic Dialogue Society and through extensive meetings with over 25 Members of Congress and a Congressional Forum hosted by Representatives Jamie Raskin and Brad Schneider. They also met with State Department and USAID officials numerous embassies think tanks and interfaith and faith-based groups. Several alumni also participated in a symposium co-sponsored by over 20 organizations focused on Israel and Palestinian peacebuilding efforts and undertook a speaking tour sponsored by J Street U at over 5 universities. New Story Leadership plans to resume its annual flagship summer leadership program as soon as feasible. We continue to see this as a key developer of young leaders armed with the skills knowledge and compassion to help produce a peaceful shared future in Israel Palestine.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$152.9K
