Youth Music Camp Experience
In the Spring of 2023 we were informed that the space that we usually use for camp was not available due to water damage. We narrowed our focus in 2023 to camp only. We found a space at the Eskenazi Fine Arts Center at the Herron School of Art and Design at IU Indianapolis. This was a wonderful space in many ways, but it was very "live" with lots of concrete and windows. We spent much more than planned on sound deadening items such as rugs and textured foam. We did not promote camp other than word of mouth since we had so much uncertainty. We served 72 youth over a 2 week period. The campers learned bass, drums, guitar, keyboards or vocals, formed bands, and wrote a song together over the course of the week which they played at the Saturday showcase in front of over 100 people. In addition to learning their instruments and band practice, campers had workshops on making instruments from found items, Eastern European music, dance, and fabric art.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$50.5K
