HIGHER-EDUCATION SPONSORSHIPS: As of 2022, EdPowerment funded over 25 sponsorships through our Tanzanian partner, Educational Empowerment Organization (EdPowerment). EdPowerment continues to provide all educational requirements, as well as personal needs, transport, medical and at times, family support for these students, most of whom now attend colleges and universities. EdPowerment works with all students and recent graduates on advanced computer and life skills during school breaks, and offers a transitional program of assistance to recent graduates as they seek employment.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$63.7KIn-Country Program Management

SEMINARS, CLUBS AND OTHER COMMUNITY OUTREACH: In 2022 EdPowerment introduced a Secondary School Skills Program in two secondary schools that receive minimal government and parental support in villages of extraordinary economic hardship. Our goal is to inculcate positive behaviors at home and in the classroom that will produce better outcomes despite deprived environments. Seminars teach critical study skills; demonstrate best practice test-taking strategies, and otherwise promote a positive approach to learning. Saturday Boys and Girls Clubs engage students in sports, arts and games, while offering practical lessons in local income-producing agricultural, product-based, or service-based activities. EdPowerment also assisted the formation of two small Womens Business Groups in drought-stricken villages that now lack vegetation for planting and raising livestock. Each group of 20 women came together in a formal structure to begin a soap-making/marketing enterprise. EdPowerments seed money, sponsored formal training (with Moshi-based SIDO- Small Industries Development Organization), and financial/operational coaching will enable these women to build a sustainable business whose profits will help to feed and educate their children. Also In response to severe drought that has impacted specific villages in the districts where we assist secondary schools, EdPowerment undertook an EMERGENCY DROUGHT RELIEF FOOD PROGRAM in 2022. Working with authorities to identify families marked by severe malnutrition, EdPowerment began bi-monthly food deliveries to over 50 families facing potential starvation.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$13.4K
