Program 1 [2021]
During the 2020 calendar year, the History Center was closed to the public from the beginning of the pandemic in late March. This, of course, significantly impacted our day-to-day operations and the number of visitations to the History Center. We continued community outreach programs and services through a number of virtual programming events that served K-12 students in local area schools, as well as members of the general public. For example, we partnered with history teachers at Athens Middle School for virtual meetings with History Center staff as students worked on class projects dealing with African-American history in the local area. We also hosted two virtual presentations for our speakers series. In late fall we began offering tours of the Athens Asylum again, as these tours take place outdoors. We also recently hired a new collections manager to lead our highly successful internship program.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2020 – Jun 30, 2021Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$294KSoutheast Ohio Historical Center Operations
