Energy Saving Projects For Low-Income Congregations
We completed energy saving projects at 11 low-income congregations across the state, helping them put 100,000 each 1.1 million total in grant dollars into energy saving building improvements. These 11 congregations reduced their energy costs by an average of 23, with two congregations expecting to reduce their energy use by over 50. We began a 2 year project to help 6 Detroit congregation community centers become hubs for climate resilience by improving their buildings and receiving training to better support their communities in times of weather disasters like extreme heat, poor air quality, flooding, and power outages. In partnership with Adamah, we brought urban and suburban, Jewish, Christian and Unitarian congregations together for peer learning, fellowship, and find active hope amidst the climate crisis.
