The James Alan Cox Foundation provides financial support to student photographers of high-school and college age through a variety of funding, including equipment and scholarships, to expand educational and developmental opportunities for students demonstrating talent, interest and financial need.This was the Foundation's thirteenth year of providing scholarships to talented high school and college students and awarded 5 high school students high-end digital cameras (worth $499.99 each) and awarded $2,500 scholarships to 5 college students and 1 graduate student,payable to their school($15,000 in total grants).The Foundation also funded its tenth annual internship program at Jim Cox's former TV Station, KTVK-KPHO, Phoenix. The Foundation funded the cost of compensation to the intern and the company's matching taxes for a total of $3,176.84.In the past, the Foundation has also purchased an editing bay ($10,000) at Arizona State University; purchased high-end cameras for Huntington High School, New York; purchased recording equipment for Hopi High School in Keams Canyon, Arizona; and purchased camera equipment, or given grants for this purpose, to the Ann Richards School in Austin, Texas; the Daniel Pearl Magnet School in Van Nuys, California; the George Washington Carver Museum in Austin, Texas; the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington D.C., and the SEED Public Charter School in Washington, D.C.
