Scholarship Assistance
Scholarship Assistance - Overseas Council provides scholarships to both needy students and faculty. Importantly, the allocation of these scholarship resources rests with the schools who allocate the funds. This helps ensure that those students and faculty with high potential for advancing God's kingdom and who are most in need can continue developing as the critical Christian leaders for the future. In the last year, 809 student scholarships were funded in seminaries across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East/North Africa.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesOct 1, 2016 – Sep 30, 2017Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$596.4KTransformational Projects and Institutes
Transformational Projects and Institutes- Overseas Council provides leadership support to partner seminaries with daily operational needs such as salary support, special projects, and seminary operating expenses. The largest component of this area, however, is our Institutes For Excellence program which is designed to help seminaries improve organizational effectiveness by convening school leaders (presidents, staff and board) to engage in week-long sessions with peers regarding challenges in Christian leadership development. For these leaders, the Institutes for Excellence are a regular, regional, and relevant resource as, often, what theological schools and programs in the Majority World need is not simply more funding, but more learning to meet the challenges of Christian leaders.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesOct 1, 2016 – Sep 30, 2017Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$662.5KTEACH Program
TEACH - TEACH's ("Theological Education for Arab Christians at Home") vision is to see a growing Church in the Middle East and North Africa, confident in Christian faith and witness, serving the community and contributing to the good of society and culture. Today, more people are coming to Christ in the Middle East and Northern Africa than since the 7th century. However, Arab Christians have limited access to contextual Christian education because residential training is often challenging, and depending on area, nearly impossible. In combination with SAT-7 (satellite Christian broadcasting) and 18 seminaries of Middle East Association for Theological Education ("MEATE"), TEACH is able to reach new believers, Muslim Background Believers and seekers with 32 courses via satellite TV, more in-depth online learning programs and more than 20 Arabic-speaking seminaries using these courses internally and to enroll distance students.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesOct 1, 2016 – Sep 30, 2017Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$283.1K
