DIY Girls STEM Program
DIY Girls increases girls' interest and success in technology and engineering by providing hands-on afterschool and summer experiences for 5th-12th grade girls. Our programs are offered to predominantly girls of color, ages 10-18, at 15 partner schools in the Northeast San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. We work with girls at an age when studies show their interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) - and their belief that they can succeed in STEM related subjects and courses - falls dramatically, which leads eventually to the wide disparity of women in STEM fields and high-paying careers. DIY Girls programs are designed to engage more girls in STEM at a young age and further build the workforce pipeline and to reverse these distressing trends by introducing girls to STEM in a supportive and collaborative learning environment where they can challenge themselves. Since 2012, we have served 6,570 girls with our STEM-based programs and we currently serve approximately 450 girls annually.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2022 – Jun 30, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$925K
