Adult Literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL):The ESL/literacy program provides culturally competent English language educational instruction to help immigrants adjust and become self-sufficient through learning Adult Literacy:English. Classes are free of charge and offered in four levels of instruction from beginner to advanced over the course of twelve weeks. The impact of the program results in adults who are able to effectively communicate in English to get a job, earn a drivers license, speak with their childrens teachers, etc. Parent Mentor Program:IAC recruits parents to support teachers and students in Chicago Public Schools. Through weekly workshops at IAC, parents build leadership, confidence, & family-school connections.
