Program 1 [2021]
The theme for this year's Regional and National Meetings was "With a Father's Heart: St. Joseph, Guardian of the Redeemer." Because of pandemic-related restrictions, one regional meeting was held in Los Angeles, in May 2021. The National Meeting took place over April 10-11, 2021. The featured speakers were priests and women religious, and liturgical services took place, include the celebration of Holy Mass. The talks were live-streamed for the first time. The meetings, which were attended by religious, lay people and persons discerning a priestly or religious vocation, support religious in their vocations and encourage lay people to promote vocations in the Church. This year, the IRL bestowed its prestigious Pro Fidelitate et Virtute Award on Mother Marie Julie Saegaert, SCMC, General Superior of the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady Mother of the Church, for her heroic witness as a religious and her leadership in the renewal of the consecrated life.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2020 – Jun 30, 2021Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$75.5KProgram 2 [2021]
The IRL publication Religious Life magazine, published 5 times per year, is distributed to about 2,400 religious, priests, bishops, communities and lay people every issue. That periodical as well as our four websites (ReligiousLife.com, CloisteredLife.com, ReligiousBrotherhood.com, and VocationBlog.com) are windows into religious life for lay supporters and those discerning a vocation. The four websites receive over 20,000 visitors per month. On ReligiousLife.com, our main site, young people can review the profiles of 190+ religious communities. We also have SpeakLord.net which provides free downloads of MP3 audios on the priesthood and the consecrated life. On Facebook, our likes increased from 5,500 to almost 7,500 during the fiscal year. The pandemic inspired a new resource via Facebook: weekly interviews of religious. To date, we have done over 60 interviews. We also initiated a confidential online Forum for cloistered communities where they can exchange ideas and resources unique to them. During the fiscal year, we welcomed 3 new Affiliate Communities: the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Littleton, CO; the Benedictine Nuns of St. Scholastica Priory in Petersham, MA; and the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, Hamilton, Ontario. We also offer a growing online catalog of books, audios, DVDs and other vocational and spiritual formation resources.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2020 – Jun 30, 2021Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$139.3KProgram 3 [2021]
