Bosnian Community Support Services
The Bosnian and Herzegovinian American Community Center (BHACC) is serving the low-income population from Bosnia and Herzegovina and former Yugoslavia. Due to low proficiency in the English language, vast majority of our clients are unaware of the many programs available to them. Our mission is to familiarize our clients with the programs available and assist in applying to the same. Some of those programs, which may include public assistance benefits, such as medical card, SNAP benefits, cash assistance, home care service for seniors, LIHEAP assistance, housing assistance, ESL classes, etc. Within our Home Care Service program, we currently have Home Care Aids helping clients. This program serves seniors (60 years and over) who need help with daily activities within their own home. The Aids duties vary from client to client but mostly consist of bathing and helping with dressing, laundry, shopping, meal preparations, cleaning and managing medications. Our Center also provides free ESL classes to adult immigrants and refugees with limited English proficiency. Classes are offered in levels ranging from beginner to advanced and focus on helping students communicating at the doctors offices, in community and more, as needed. These classes cover information about citizenship, health resources, community resources, and other important topics. Classes are offered in the morning and afternoon during the week. We offer three terms: fall, winter, and spring. Students are asked to commit to the full length of the class term and attend all classes.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2021 – Jun 30, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$128.5K
