Women in the Wild
ITA’s Women in the Wild trail projects are designed to create a supportive, empowering, and fun environment where women can learn new skills, build confidence, and connect with others who share a love for the outdoors. These all-female trail crews provide a unique space for volunteers to work together, gain hands-on experience in trail maintenance, and make a lasting impact on Idaho’s public lands.GeographiesIdaho, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedForestry,Public health,Women's services,Nonprofits,Voluntarism,Community recreationAdults,Heterosexuals,Intersex people,LGBTQ people,Women and girls,Retired people––Youth Trail Crew
Our ITA Youth Trail Crew Program provides opportunities for youth ages 14-18 to learn about the outdoors while building and maintaining hiking trails in a safe, teamwork-oriented environment. Students will have the opportunity to live and work together in some of Idaho’s most wild places for a few days to up to a week at a time. Through this experience, they will build skills in teamwork and communication, as well as develop confidence in using traditional tools to perform trail maintenance. Our hope is this experience will inspire teens to become lifelong stewards and voices for their public lands and trails.GeographiesIdaho, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedOut-of-school learning,Environmental education,Environmental justice,Natural resources,Youth development,Leadership development,Sports and recreationChildren and youth––
