Support for At-Risk Children and Families
The Foundation provides financial support for the Amani Children's Home in Tanzania, Africa. Launched a Pilot Rotational Goat Project for Household Resilience In early 2024, we launched a pilot goat rotation program with 8 carefully selected families. Each household received training, veterinary support, and one healthy female goat, with a commitment to return offspring into a shared pool-enabling new families to join annually. This initiative responds to persistent food insecurity and economic instability in Monduli District, where over 60% of families face unpredictable income due to climate shocks. The program not only supplements household nutrition with milk and meat but creates the foundation for long-term, locally owned income generation. Sustained Educational Support for Up to 50 At-Risk Children We provided direct educational assistance-including tuition, books, uniforms, shoes, and safe transportation-for a cohort of up to 50 children living in extreme poverty or recently reunified from institutional care. These supports remove the economic barriers that most commonly prevent school enrollment and retention in our region. Tanzania's national data shows that financial hardship is the leading cause of primary and secondary school dropout (The Foundation for Tomorrow, 2022). Our wraparound model ensures not only academic access, but structured home visits, psychosocial support, and peer connection activities to stabilize children in school and home environments. Reunified Children with Safe, Supportive Families In line with global best practices and national Tanzanian priorities, we worked with district social welfare officers to safely transition children from institutional care back into family-based settings. Many children in orphanages-up to 80% globally-have at least one living parent or extended family member who could care for them with proper support (Better Care Network, 2021). Our reunification work included individualized family assessments, preparation workshops, parenting support, and regular post-placement check-ins. This effort reflects our strategic pivot away from institutional care and toward long-term family preservation. Delivered Community-Based Arts, Sports, and Wellness Programming Recognizing that healing from trauma and building resilience requires more than school support, we provided a series of arts, dance, and sports programs for children in our network. These creative outlets foster self-confidence, emotional expression, and peer bonding-particularly important for children with histories of separation, neglect, or instability. Sessions were held weekly and led by trained community mentors, providing structured enrichment and psychosocial value in a culturally relevant, joyful format.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$50.5K
