Trauma-Informed Culturally Responsive Treatment
Therapeutic Services: Through SAMHSA funding, Sacramento County Behavioral Health offers therapeutic services focused on the Black and African American Community with their program entitled, "Trauma-Informed Culturally Responsive Treatment (TICRT) Program." Through TICRT, Holding Space offered culturally informed therapeutic services to members of Sacramento's Black community impacted by mental illness, crisis and trauma. Through the TICRT program, Holding Space provided up to 12 free psychotherapy sessions for those in the Black community who are on Medi-Cal or are uninsured. During our participation on this project, Holding Space offered over 100 free psychotherapy sessions to children, youth, adults and families.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$28.8KCommunity Healing Retreats
Community Offerings/Retreats: Central to our work is the belief that compassion heals. Community heals. Culture heals. These components are the medicine that create the conditions for repair and restoration to take place. As a newer organization, our primary mode of offering care to the Black community is through daylong healing retreats that incorporate African centered wisdom traditions and practices such as pouring libations, djembe drumming, African dance, community storytelling, and sharing African psychology principles. These practices are offered alongside mind, body, spirit healing practices, such as mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and sound healing, with the goal of helping to reset and restore overworked nervous systems. In community, we cultivate a sense of safety and belonging by establishing community agreements, attending to the unique needs of community members across identity intersections, and centering joy. During 2024, we held 5 daylong retreats with the following themes: February 2024: Black History Month April 2024: Cultivating an Inner Sanctuary of Stillness and Peace June 2024: Juneteenth August 2024: Living with An Awakened Heart September 2024: Searching the Soul (In Honor of Suicide Awareness Month) Through our community based daylong healing retreats, we served approximately 250 people.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$43.8K
