THE WEST CENTRAL GEORGIA CANCER COALITION SERVES A THIRTEEN-COUNTY AREA WITH A POPULATION OF APPROXIMATELY 360,000 PEOPLE. THE WEST CENTRAL GEORGIA CANCERCOALITION PARTICIPATED IN OR HOSTED 43 OUTREACH EVENTS TO PROMOTE AWARENESS OF CANCER PREVENTION AND CONTROL MECHANISMS TO 4,237 COMMUNITY RESIDENTS. THE COALITION DISTRIBUTED 28 FIT KITS FOR COLORECTAL CANCER AWARENESS. THE COALITION ASSISTED 182 PATIENTS WITH NAVIGATING CANCER CARE SERVICES, 201 PATIENTS REFERRED AND 36 ASSISTED FINANCIALLY THROUGH THE NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS CANCER ASSISTANCE FUND. WE ALSO PROVIDED 1000 BREAST CANCER SCREENING SERVICES TO 454 WOMEN AND PARTNERED WITH 23 NEW HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS TO BESTOW TIMELY LIFE SAVING AND PREVENTIVE EXAMINATIONS. During the 2023-2024 fiscal year, WCGCC's goal was to provide the uninsured, underinsured, and medically underserved in their 11 GA counties and 2 AL counties serving a population of approximately 465,000 people various services. WCGCC provided 1,067 breast cancer screening services (clinical breast exams, screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, and biopsies) and served 483 persons (regardless of age, race, and gender) in cancer screening services. Among the 483 persons served, 247 were uninsured and 31 were between the ages of 18-39 years old.We educated 3,261+ persons via 27 outreach events and referred over 300 persons to receive timely and appropriate healthcare services. We provided navigation to 169 clients who were screened for cancer.
