Film Production Training Program
Industry Basics - Trained six participants in film set departments, etiquette, protocols, and language. Film History and Theory - Educated on the history of cinema, film theory, and influential directors. Editing - Workshop with Devon Collins (Stimuli Films). - Introduced DaVinci Editing Software, color correction, creating titles, transitions, importing music, and recorded voice-overs. Lighting - Training on setting up a softbox and 3-point lighting setup. Camera - Basics of camera operation using DSLR cameras, framing, and composition. Sound - Recording sound basics and etiquette, using external and boom mics, importing sound into editing software, and recording ambient sound. Writing - Screenplay format using Celtx, storytelling principles, story arcs, character archetypes, and creating storyboards. Photography - Workshop with Shannon Marullo Ahlstrand. - Covered Adobe Lightroom basics, layered filter usage, building a clientele, and held a photography shootout challenge. Directing and Acting - Taught the director's role, casting, working with actors, and directing scenes. Pre-production - Roles and responsibilities, film project planning, and production plan development. Production - Shooting short films, rotating crew roles, on-set etiquette, troubleshooting, reviewing dailies. - Workshop with Amir Miller. Sports Documentary - Workshop with Branson Wright. - Building relationships, creating compelling stories and edits, entrepreneurship, and salary negotiation. Teamwork - Completing projects with team support, meeting deadlines, peer reviews, incorporating feedback. Networking - In-studio workshops, contact information for mentorship, internships, job opportunities, LinkedIn Learning Access, LinkedIn Profile Certification. Additional Equipment Exposure - Hands-on experience with SmallRig RC 220B Bi-Color LED Monolights, Godox SL150W II LED Video Light, Softboxes, Weebill S 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer, Canon EOS R camera, Godox TL120 RGB LED Tube Light, Adjustable Boom Pole, Tentacle sync TRACK E audio recorder, Tascam DR-60DmkII field recorder, RODE NTG2 shotgun microphone, Rode RODElink LAV Microphone, reflectors, Light stands, and C Stands. Impact of Handmade Films Partnership - Supported training for black women in production with Handmade Films, benefiting 46 individuals with jobs and over $5,000 in wages. - Resulted in 10 film projects, 1 Virtual Training Workshop, 4 Virtual Jury Meetings, and 18 educational books distributed. Support and Expansion Ecorts - Trained 36 additional students from Ginn Academy during the school year. - Participants collaborated with industry professionals from Netflix, Amazon, BET, and the Superman franchise. Event and Community Engagement - Hosted a successful Production Showcase with support from local council members and Growth Opportunity Partners, securing a $25,000 commitment.
