    Summer School: Summer School has always been the a very important part of the Institute. Students come from around the country. There are sessions led by scholars in addition to discussion groups. Speakers are there on a voluntary basis and receive only room and board. Volunteers help coordinate during the week. Audio and video recordings are usually made of the sessions. Unfortunately the Covid pandemic prevented the Institute from holding the school this year.

  • Program 3 [2020]

    Scholars conferences or Jefferson Seminars - Due to the Covid pandemic the Institute was limited to one Scholars Conference this year. The conference was held Oct 16 - 17, 2020 and was on the topic "Who Owns America?" That year marked the 90th anniversary of the classic work "I'll Take My Stand," a collection of twelve essays by Southern critics of modern industrial society. Some 124 registered for the conference.
