Curriculum Development in Sierra Leone
Our on-going collaboration with the Nenneh Children School in Sierra Leone West Africa allows us to create curriculum provide professional development workshops for teachers and art workshops for students. This year we purchased new equipment and our lead educator principal Remi Saunders is currently in Sierra Leone working with the young people. Ms. Saunders spends half of the year on-location. This project supports approximately 150 students and 20 educators in Sierra Leone W. For the first time we are engaging in a short film directed by our team titled "How Great is Our God" which will be featured in upcoming film festivals and at the Museum of the African Diaspora. For the first time we are collaborating with Newark Arts Collaboration to create a public mural that will promote a positive identity community and equity with feminine and non-binary identities of African descent as the focus. This project is still in production as we are collaborating with young women and non-binary people from Newark. Installation is expected during the first quarter of 2022.
