Program 1 [2020]
PayUp is a campaign to raise pay and standards for gig delivery drivers in Seattle and Washington state. In 2020 we helped win hazard pay & paid sick days for gig delivery drivers in the City of Seattle. We played a leading role in the coalition of immigrant and worker rights organizations that won an economic relief fund to put cash in the pockets of undocumented workers who were out of work due to the pandemic but are excluded from traditional unemployment insurance.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$1.1MWorker Advocacy and Rights Campaign
Through our worker advocacy, grassroots lobbying efforts, and coalition work, we continued to advance new rights and standards for workers in 2023. We successfully won overpayment waivers for unemployment benefits recipients and continue to advocate for full access to unemployment benefits for all workers. Our campaign to raise pay and standards for gig workers successfully passed a new Seattle labor standard, and we continue to work to improve conditions for domestic workers across the state. We also engaged in consumer protection advocacy for unfair fees that app companies were imposing due to legislation passed to pay gig-workers a minimum wage, and engaged in advocacy to push back on a proposed two-tiered wage system for tipped restaurant industry workers in the city of Seattle.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$757.1K
