COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:The pandemic affected our most vulnerable communities. As part of our Community Engagement initiative Padres implemented community-pop-ups and outreach which serviced over 5000 participants (adult, youth, children and infants). Understanding the importance of addressing human connection at a biological, psychological, and social level during the pandemic has been critical for Padres Unidos. Our community pop-ups and Outreach, Education and Support services have helped lower levels of anxiety and depression, increase access to COVID-19 testing, Vaccine information, PPE support as well as end-of-life services/support. The grief and death experienced by the vulnerable communities we serve was unprecedented. Our community worker program helped increase access to basic needs such as food, diapers, housing and other resources. Our weekly care calls have served as a social safety net for many of the families we serve. Families felt that they were not alone through this terrifying journey. This has led to an increase in support groups created among program participants allowing for an increase of self-sufficiency and a strengthening of their community safety net support systems. A new Padres Unidos Community Worker award at Chapman University cohort is programmed to start in the Fall of 2022.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$144.4K
