Program 1 [2021]
The 2020-21 program year of hosting volunteers for a year of service in local nonprofit organizations was suspended due to the Covid-19 global pandemic, and the organization held a sabbatical year from hosting, investing instead in professional development for staff, materials review and renewal, and supporting and coordinating activities for the national Young Adult Volunteer program with the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. Through the year, the executive director of Hands and Feet of Asheville attended professional development coursework and conferences, both for her own development and as preparation to retool and renew program offerings for future years of volunteers, specifically regarding the reflection sessions they typically engage in throughout a hosted program year, as well as building relationships with local organizations and recruiting future volunteer placement partners. She also worked in coordination with the national YAV site coordinators and central program office, which is a separate organization but strongly partnered with Hands and Feet through the program we host here in Asheville. In addition, the winter and spring of the 2020-21 fiscal year required typical recruiting and interviewing activity in order to prepare for a return to hosting volunteers in 2021-22. Finally, because the pandemic required Hands and Feet to evacuate from the senior retirement home our volunteers had been living in for the past couple program years, the executive director worked through the year to explore new housing opportunities for our return to hosting in 2021-22.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2020 – Jun 30, 2021Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$3.4KYoung Adult Volunteer Program
In Hands and Feet of Asheville's primary program, serving as the Asheville site of the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s Young Adult Volunteer program, the 2024-25 fiscal year included the last month of hosting 2 young adult volunteers here in Asheville, each engaging in 32 hours per week of service for 9 months (temporarily shorter for one program year), from September 2024 through May 2025, totaling more than 1,152 hours of service in local Asheville nonprofit organizations. Their community impact included project management for affordable housing initiatives through Habitat for Humanity, assisting in facilitating operations for AHOPE day center which serves unhoused individuals in a variety of ways; Haywood Street Congregation which serves meals as well as offering a place of community, conversation, and dignity for unhoused Asheville residents; and supporting Greenworks with sustainability efforts across Asheville.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2024 – Jun 30, 2025Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$28.2KYoung Adult Transformation Collective
In the 2024-25 fiscal year, Hands and Feet of Asheville continued a fiscal sponsorship relationship with the Young Adult Transformation Collective (YATC), supporting the initiative formally as a program of Hands and Feet of Asheville as they built toward becoming their own separate organization. Our missions are aligned in that YATC connects, resources, and equips participating locally-led transformation programs for young adults, like Hands and Feet of Asheville. During this fiscal year, the YATC program worked toward developing its structure, transitioning dedicated staff supported by partner organizations to the initiative, starting to develop its network of partners who are supporting young adult nonprofit work experiences with intentional attention to their personal, professional, and spiritual growth at the beginning of their professional lives.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2024 – Jun 30, 2025Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$7.9K
