FUREVER FRIENDS DOG RESCUE OF WNY INC
Programs
Veterinary Care and Adoption Services
While our dogs and puppies are in foster care, we pay for any necessary medical services, and work with a few local Veterinarians to assure the dogs and puppies are spayed or neutered. At times we have the need to cover other unforeseen medical emergences such as, hernias, eye and ear issues, orthopedic surgery, dental cleaning and surgery, as well as provide antibiotics when needed. Many of the dogs require additional care as their needs were previously neglected. We also pay for the cost of microchipping and food. After the dog or puppy is considered healthy, undergone spay/neuter surgery, and deemed adoptable, we transfer ownership of the dog through a signed adoption agreement, and receive an adoption fee, dependent upon the age and health of the dog, and at times the adopters personal situation. Dogs are kept in foster care from 1 day or 3 months, depending on the dogs health, and whether or not it has been spayed or neutered. In 2024 upwards of 400 dogs and puppies have been either adopted out to families, or turned over to a separate shelter for adoption.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$69.9KRescue and Adoption of Abused Dogs
During 2024 Furever Friends dog Rescue of WNY, Inc. has coordinated the rescue of more than 400 dogs and puppies from puppy mills and or large scale breeding facilities that otherwise would have been inhumanely euthanized. Our Volunteers will drive 550 miles several times per month to pick up the dogs, take them to a local Veterinarian for care such as vaccinations and health exams, and then upon arrival placing the dogs and puppies in foster to adopt homes. Our costs include van rental, fuel, tolls, meals and at times overnight lodging in a hotel. The dogs and puppies we rescue are former breeder dogs used for producing a profit for the puppy miller or breeder and are forced to live in small cages with no care for the entirety of their lives. Several of our rescue dogs were surrendered to other shelters for placement at our cost. Any puppies that we rescue, are considered undesirable to the breeders and un sellable. due to their age or medical condition. We are benefiting the community, as there are tend of thousands of dogs and puppies. Many people want to adopt a rescue/shelter dog. Many of the dogs that do not find homes would otherwise be euthanized. At least 200 plus individuals or families have adopted a dog from Furever Friends in 2024.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$61.4KPublic Awareness on Puppy Mills
We strive to educate the public on the issue of not purchasing a puppy over the Internet or from a pet store as the majority of the puppies are raised in puppy mills where the parents are forced to live in small cages with no care for the entirety of their lives with the sole purpose of producing a profit for the puppy miller or breeder Many of the dogs and puppies are sick and taken from their mother at too young of an age before they are physically and mentally ready Our education involves attending community events with some of our rescue dogs and we distribute printed materials on puppy mills and our organization We talk with people attending the events and promote our mission which is raising awareness. Through the use of social media outlets, such as Facebook, and our website, we managed to reach and educate tens of thousands of people. This part of our mission is ongoing and we hope that one day there will be an end to pet stores both physical stores and internet store and also put an end to the inhumane treatment of dogs and puppies. We also visited a nursing home/extended care facility with our dogs. This provided the residents with a very enjoyable experience and also socialization for the dogs.In 2024 we attended several community events to fundraise, educate and create awareness.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$382
