An estimated 250 people participated in these events. Trails; Since its inception, CMC has built six hiking trails (totalling about 12 miles), and in 2023 an estimated 3200 people hiked these trails. Because a percentage of people do not sign in at the trail register books, a more precise estimate cannot be established. In addition to the CMC trails, CMC volunteers helped reopen a state-forest trail of 5.5 miles. The State of New York has not yet placed a register at the two access points so the number of users cannot be established at this time.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$0Outdoor Advocacy and Stewardship
Advocacy; CMC is an active, key member of a 25-organization consortium that meets with state elected representatives each spring and has successfully brought resources to the region we serve and to those who recreate in the region's outdoors, including our 350+ members. Our combined advocacy efforts have: initiated a stewardship and education program a high-intensity trail access points and on mountain summits; funded scientifically-based programs to prevent, combat, and manage invasive species; and set forth plans to increase and connect the region's trail system to disperse and absorb increasing numbers of visitors that have come to the region, especially since the Covid pandemic. CMC is also a member of the Catskill Park Advisory Committee that helps influence policy of land managers and government agencies to target needs for the region's outdoor recreation resources. CMC is also a member of the Forest Preserve Group that specifically advocates for resources to better serve the two (Catskill and Adirondack) Forest Preserves and visitor. The efforts of this group have also proven successful, with specialized visitor-management efforts underway in both forest preserves.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$12.5K
