Legislative Advocacy for Climate Bills
350 Bay Area Action's Legislative Committee has endorsed and actively advocated for dozens of bills in the California legislature since its founding in 2013. This includes 20 bills that were passed in 2021, and even more in 2022. We have supported the passage of important bills such as: SB32 (2016) which set a state goal of 40% greenhouse gas reductions in California by 2030 compared to 1990. We also supported SB100 (2018) and SB350 (2020) to achieve reductions in greenhouse gases from the electricity sector and to increase energy efficiency in buildings. This year we supported SB 1137, which will require 3200 foot setback for drilling operations from homes and schools.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2021 – Jun 30, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$30KElectoral Committee for Climate Candidates
We formed an electoral committee in 2020. In the election that year 7 of the candidates we endorsed won their elections. We developed a candidate survey for city, county, and state candidates to learn their views on climate actions such as electrification of buildings, supporting electric vehicles, setting back all fossil fuel drilling from schools and homes and more. We also asked if they pledged not to take any money from fossil fuel companies.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2021 – Jun 30, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$10K
