  • Pen Parentis Writing Fellowship for New Parents

    To incentivize the creation of professional-level creative writing at a critical stage of parenthood, Pen Parentis offers a yearlong Fellowship to one parent (judging is blind and based solely on the merit of a written new story). The prize includes $2000, publication in an international journal, opportunity for a public performance, and a yearlong mentorship. Submissions are accepted from March 1- April 17 each year.

  • Monthly Pen Parentis Literary Salons

    On the second Tuesday of each month during the public school year, small groups of established professional creative writers (who are also parents) present new work and candidly discuss their writing practice vis-a-vis parenthood. These evening Literary Salons have monthly themes that are inspiring, informative and participation in an online audience is open to the general public. The following week, these themed literary salons appear as hourlong shows on YouTube.com/PenParentis to inspire even more writers.

  • The Cycle of Support

    Subscribers to Pen Parentis are invited to join intimate cohorts (online and in person) to set individual weekly goals for their large writing projects. In community, these groups network, share resources and hold each other accountable to their goals. Dozens of books have been written in these small groups where Pen Parentis builds authentic community among writer parents.
