Elementary School Programs in the classroom and after-school programs include violin lessons with lingit language lessons. JAMM has 3indigenous culture bearers who have worked to translate or create words for the violin, write and create school songs and translate other works of music into the lingit language. We serve over 500 students in the 22-23 school year. Grant received Play USA, Carnegie Hall, Alaska state council on the Arts, CBJ/JAHC grant, Juneau Community Foundation, Douglas Dorn Foundations. Blue Grass Camp is a week long program for students entering the 4th to 8th grade. Students are introduced or learn different instruments and styles of bluegrass music. Teaching artists are brought to Juneau to work with both the students and teachers in the Juneau Area. The week was held at the Juneau Ski Resort lodge so besides music instruction there were opportunities for play, team building and quiet times to enjoy the surroundings. The camp is tuition free and is paid for by grants and sponsorships. Private lessons for middle and high school students. JAMM proviced over 200 hours of private lessons to 20 students at no cost to the families. JAMM receives matching funds from several grants to the cost of these lessons and raise the funds through various activities as a Holiday Village, donations at concerts an this year we brought Publicquartet to Juneau through a grant to work with the students during the day and after-school.
