CHILDREN OF THE IMMACULATE HEART

Program 1 [2020]
With the Refuge opening in 2020, our payroll expense went up significantly because we are now providing 24/7 care to teenage victims of sex trafficking in a residential therapeutic setting. Our biggest accomplishment in this area has been being able to provide this 24/7 direct supervision to foster and Probation youth at the Refuge, working to keep them safe and getting them access to the services they need. We were also able to help house 6-8 different women with rental assistance in the adult program, providing much needed housing for women getting out of sex trafficking. Finally, we were able to provide both the teenage girls and the adult women with individual therapy as often as once a week for those who wish - an essential aspect of caring for their mental health and helping them heal and grow.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$312.5KProgram 2 [2020]
In 2020, we made progress in both our programs. The Refuge, our Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program for 1217-year-old foster and Probation youth, has been open since September 2020. Since opening, we have been able to assist ten girls in getting out of the life of sex trafficking. In the home we provide education through a home-school charter school, residential services, and both individual, group, equine, and music therapy. In the summer of 2020, we got a new Program Manager for the adult program who has been restructuring and better organize this program to better assist the women and children we serve. The clients have made significant progress with their mental and emotional health through the therapeutic services that CIH offers, including the following.o They take more time evaluating situations before reacting. o They have started to understand that they cannot control what others do, only how they react. o They have become more mindful as parents regarding their influences on their children. o Many clients have overcome their initial resistance to therapy and now look forward to their sessions. o Our adult clients have shown growth in the ability to look inward at themselves and admit to their flaws and mistakes.o The women are learning to be patient and understanding of others flaws.o The ladies are improving their abilities to balance everyday life and work through their trauma. Our clients are also achieving personal education and career goals. Now, we have three clients who are less than two months away from graduating from their medical assistant program. One client is five months away from earning her cosmetology license, four clients are close to earning their GEDs, and one client recently started her nursing and business program. Another client is a few months away from completing her associates degree in business and then she starts her two-year bachelors degree program in psychology. At the rate that our clients are accomplishing their career and education goals, it is a realistic goal of ours to graduate five of our seven clients by the end of 2023.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$228.5KSt. Bakhita's Program for Survivors
