THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR WAS OUR FOURTH YEAR OF OPERATION. DURING THISYEAR WE SERVED 6TH GRADE WITH 84 STUDENTS, 7TH GRADE WITH 85STUDENTS, 8TH GRADE WITH 85 STUDENTS, AND 9TH GRADE WITH 84 STUDENTS. OUR MISSION HAS ALWAYS BEEN CENTRAL TO OUR FOCUS AS WE DEVELOP ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE IN BOTH SPANISH AND ENGLISH, PREPARING OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS TO EXCEL IN COLLEGE. IN SCHOOL YEAR 17-18 WE CONCENTRATED ON CULTIVATING A HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHING STAFF,IMPROVING OUR STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES AS WELL AS FINE-TUNING A SUPPORTIVE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT. WE CONTINUED A SUCCESSFUL AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM THAT INCLUDED HOMEWORK HELP, ROBOTICS, MUSIC, SOCCER, SCIENCE OLYMPIAD, GIRLS ON THE RUN, CHESS AND AN AWARD-WINNING DEBATE TEAM. WE CONTINUED OFFERING AFTER SCHOOL PARENT WORKSHOPS AND BUILDING A STRONG COMMUNITY THROUGH REGULAR MONTHLY MEETINGS WITH PARENTS AND THE PRINCIPAL CALLED "CAFECITO CON LA DIRECTORA." IN ADDITION, DURING THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR THE SCHOOL SUCCESSFULLY EXPANDED INTO HIGH SCHOOL GRADES. OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPUS COULD NOT ACCOMODATE THE ADDITIONAL HIGH SCHOOL GRADES. AS A RESULT, ADS IS NOW A SPLIT CAMPUS SCHOOL WITH HIGH SCHOOL GRADES IN TEMPORARY, PRIVATE SPACE A FEW BLOCKS AWAY FROM OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL. THE 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR WAS OUR EIGHTH YEAR OF OPERATION. DURING THIS YEAR, WE SERVED 6TH GRADE WITH 84 STUDENTS, 7TH GRADE WITH 81 STUDENTS, 8TH GRADE WITH 89 STUDENTS, 9TH GRADE WITH 92 STUDENTS, 10TH GRADE WITH 82 STUDENTS, 11TH GRADE WITH 80 STUDENTS, AND 12TH GRADE WITH 79 STUDENTS. OUR MISSION HAS ALWAYS BEEN CENTRAL TO OUR FOCUS AS WE DEVELOP ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE IN BOTH SPANISH AND ENGLISH, PREPARING OUR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO EXCEL IN COLLEGE. OUR AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM INCLUDED HOMEWORK HELP, ROBOTICS, MUSIC, SOCCER, SCIENCE OLYMPIAD, GIRLS ON THE RUN, CHESS, AND AN AWARD-WINNING DEBATE TEAM. WE CONTINUED OFFERING AFTER SCHOOL PARENT WORKSHOPS AND BUILDING A STRONG COMMUNITY THROUGH REGULAR MONTHLY MEETINGS WITH PARENTS AND THE PRINCIPAL CALLED "CAFECITO CON DA DIRECTORA." THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR BEGAN FULLY IN PERSON. WE RETURNED TO TRADITIONAL ROUTINES AND PROVIDE EXCEPTIONAL INSTRUCTION, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, AND FAMILY SUPPORT. ADCS GRADUATED OUR SECOND CLASS ALMOST ALL OF WHOM HAD BEEN ACCEPTED AT A COMMUNITY COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. AS PREVIOUSLY INDICATED, OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPUS COULD NOT ACCOMMODATE THE ADDITIONAL HIGH SCHOOL GRADES. AS A RESULT, ADS IS A SPLIT CAMPUS SCHOOL WITH MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADES CO-LOCATED IN A NYC DOE BUILDING AND HIGH SCHOOL GRADES LOCATED IN PRIVATE, RENTED SPACE. IN THE SUMMER OF 2020 OUR HIGH SCHOOL MOVED FROM A TEMPORARLY SPACE INTO A PERMANENT BUILDING WHERE WE SIGNED A LONG TERM LEASE. THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR MARKED OUR ELEVENTH YEAR OF OPERATION. DURING THIS YEAR, WE SERVED THE FOLLOWING GRADES AND STUDENT POPULATIONS: 6TH GRADE: 88 STUDENTS 7TH GRADE: 87 STUDENTS 8TH GRADE: 88 STUDENTS 9TH GRADE: 96 STUDENTS 10TH GRADE: 97 STUDENTS 11TH GRADE: 80 STUDENTS 12TH GRADE: 65 STUDENTS OUR MISSION CONTINUES TO GUIDE EVERY ASPECT OF OUR WORK AS WE STRIVE TO DEVELOP ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE IN BOTH SPANISH AND ENGLISH, PREPARING OUR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO EXCEL IN COLLEGE. DURING THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR, WE CONTINUED TO FOCUS ON RECRUITING AND RETAINING A HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHING STAFF, FURTHER IMPROVING STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES, AND FOSTERING A SUPPORTIVE AND INCLUSIVE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT. WE OPERATED A THRIVING AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM, OFFERING STUDENTS A VARIETY OF ACADEMIC SUPPORT AND ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES, SPORTS, SCIENCE OLYMPIAD, AND GIRLS ON THE RUN, AMONG OTHERS. WE ALSO PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT ENGAGEMENT, CONTINUING AFTER-SCHOOL PARENT WORKSHOPS AND HOSTING MONTHLY "CAFECITO CON LA DIRECTORA" MEETINGS TO STRENGTHEN OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY AND ENSURE OPEN COMMUNICATION. THROUGHOUT THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR, WE REMAINED COMMITTED TO PROVIDING EXCEPTIONAL INSTRUCTION, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT. OUR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATED ITS FIFTH SENIOR CLASS, THE MAJORITY OF EARNED THE NEW YORK STATE SEAL OF BILITERACY AND WHOM WERE ACCEPTED TO A COMMUNITY COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. THIS ACCOMPLISHMENT REFLECTS THE HARD WORK OF OUR STUDENTS, FAMILIES, AND STAFF. AS IN PREVIOUS YEARS, OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPUS COULD NOT ACCOMMODATE THE ADDITIONAL HIGH SCHOOL GRADES. CONSEQUENTLY, ADCS CONTINUES TO OPERATE AS A SPLIT-CAMPUS SCHOOL, WITH MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADES CO-LOCATED IN A NYC DOE BUILDING AND HIGH SCHOOL GRADES HOUSED IN PRIVATE, RENTED SPACE.
