Rogue Climate
Programs
Program 1 [2020]
Direct Community Support: In September 2020, the Almeda fire - a federally declared major disaster (FEMA CODE DL-4562) displaced hundreds of families from their homes in the Rogue Valley. Recognizing that climate change is a contributory factor to intense fire seasons and that the core of our mission is to help communities most impacted by climate change, we raised funds, coordinated over 40 volunteers, and established multiple fire relief sites that served 400-600 fire survivors each week in response to the fire disaster. Our direct community support work is ongoing.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$224.9KProgram 2 [2020]
Jordan Cove LNG:The proposed Jordan Cove LNG export terminal and Pacific Connector fracked gas pipeline would be the largest single source of climate pollution in Oregon and a huge step backwards in Oregons commitments to reduce its impact on the climate. To challenge the proposal, we organized community members and partner organizations through phone banking, text banking, online webinars, and local legal challenges. As of 2021, multiple key state permits for the projects have been denied.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$115.3KProgram 3 [2020]
Clean Energy & Climate Justice: We ran the "Energize South Coast" program, connecting 50 Coos County residents to low cost ductless heat pumps and creating new jobs in Coos County. We provided outreach and education for Southern Oregonians about clean energy, climate justice, energy burden, utility shutoff and more.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$192K
