Lacrosse Development and Scholarship Fund
In 2017 The Foundation was able to raise $5000.00 for the Tony Cullen Scholarship Fund and the Duke Cancer Institute. Over 45 volunteers helped our staff hold this event on the Duke Campus. We also received the financial support and participation of several Duke Lacrosse alumni who provided assistance in making the All Star game a success. There were approximately 85 men and women participants who played in the event over a four hour period. There were also twelve officials and coaches participating in the event, which not only raised money for special causes but provided exposure for top graduating players in the State of North Carolina. This is the first All Star game in the state to feature both men and women playing lacrosse, the majority of whom went on to play collegiate lacrosse in the fall of 2017. The foundation also allowed nearly 65 young players to participate in lacrosse at both Neal Middle School and Leesville Road Middle School. Both of these programs required logistical support in order to offer lacrosse on campus. The Foundation was able to provide coaches and officials for both of these programs and allowed these teams to play over 20 games during the regular season. The Foundation also provided a resource for graduated players now in college who were looking for a place to play lacrosse in the summer. Our Adult team was comprised of twenty players who participated in two Tournaments during the summer of 2017.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2017 – Dec 31, 2017Source990No causes providedNo populations provided––
