Deescalation - Urban Alchemy provided personnel to engage in the community. Their goal was to create community and de-escalate sidewalk tensions. The program worked to create a safe environment for all using the sidewalks. The Descalation program operated for 2.5 months but was ended by the pandemic. 6th Street Demonstration project Created transformational change on each of the blocks west and south of 6th and Market. Connected unhoused individuals with housing. Joint Operations Pilot Program The three area Community Benefit Districts (CBD), Civic Center, Mid-Market and Tenderloin, along with the Mid Market Business Association, have developed the Pilot Program. The Pilot Program is a new model for how the public and private sectors integrate their resources to deliver daily public safety and maintenance services with the goal of achieving consistently cleaner and safer shared public spaces. The object is not to return to pre-pandemic conditions, but to establish a "Next Normal" in which clean and safe conditions which are significantly better and sustainable.
