Interdisciplinary Innovation Education
Innovation education for students and trainees: Over the last year, we expanded our reach, bringing together over 300 students onto interdisciplinary teams. Through their individual projects in Sling Health, these students underwent 30 weeks of extracurricular experience in innovation and entrepreneurship related to biomedical technologies. This educational platform supported Sling Health missions and the missions of our partner universities to train students from cities including: St. Louis, Boston, Philadelphia, Ann Arbor, Atlanta, New Orleans, Lubbock, College Station and Los Angeles, and newly added Miami, and Denver.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$12.3KBiomedical Technology Development Program
Development of new biomedical technologies: We supported over 40 new teams creating solutions to vetted clinical problems, and continued support for several teams that participated in previous years. The total number of teams and new biomedical technologies that have gone through our program is over 250 since our founding in 2013. As of the end of 2022, approximately 30 have continued as new companies. At least 17 have gone on to raise outside capital to date by 2022, totaling in excess of $150MM. Furthermore, we maintain and upgrade yearly a clinical problem database (currently with ~250 clinical needs) that identify current gaps within the healthcare system. This database serves as a starting platform for the future development of biomedical solutions.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$41.2KBiomedical Entrepreneurship Exposure
3) Increased exposure to biomedical entreprenuership: We increased exposure to medical entrepreneurship through multiple avenues. We conducted an augmented reality-enabled Demo Day, attracting over 200 participants. Here, our entrepreneurial teams showcased their prototypes to a broader audience, marking a significant milestone in their journey. We also featured in a prominent medical journal about our extended 6-week virtual innovation bootcamp, organized in mid-2022. This program involved over 100 participants from 30 global universities, creating 20 teams focused on solving emerging healthcare problems, reflecting our ever-expanding international footprint.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$8.9K
