  • Counseling Support for Adoptees

    In 2022 ASA's counseling program provided 593 hours of counseling support. Our counseling clients consist of approximately 33% adoptive parents 45% adoptees who are children 9% adoptees who are adults and 12% who are foster parents seeking adoption in the future.

  • Support Groups for Adoptive Families

    ASA runs three ongoing support groups- one for adoptive parents of teenagers young adults one for adult adoptees and one for parents who have adopted from foster care in partnership with another community nonprofit that serves foster parents.Each group meets monthly and serves 3 to 7 participants monthly. In 2022 we also offered short-term groups entitled "Be the Bridge: Foundational Principles for Health Cross-Race Parenting" to 7 families.

  • Parenting and Adoption Classes

    We offered a parenting class called "Being With: A Parent Course" to 20 parents. We also offered two Adoption 101 classes in 2022 and taught 7 families about the logistics of adoption and what factors to consider when making decisions about adoption.
