Program 1 [2020]
The Paradise Atlanta Enrichment Center [PAWKids] provides an Educational Assistance Program (PEP) is based on initial reading assessments at the start of the school year, every student enrolled with PAWKids has a PEP Action Plan to capitalize on strengths and target weaknesses. PAWKids strives for the holistic development of their children; spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically. The main focus is exposure to new people, places and things outside of Grove Park. PAWKids constantly adjusts/adds programs based on the ever changing needs of the community. During 2020, the pandemic resulted in a complete revision of how these services were delivered. The experiential outings were postponed as in person gatherings were limited in the City of Atlanta. PAWKids in turn focused its efforts on assisting the local elementary school with virtual attendance. Many children in the Community did not have access to computers, the internet and type of oversight needed to educate students virtually. "Learning Pods" were created for the existing students enrolled at PAWKids. These pods allowed students to access PAW's computer labs to attend virtual school. A facilitator assisted with logging on, ensuring that students completed the assignments and provided assistance when the students needed academic coaching. The pandemic limited the number served to 25.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$202.3KProgram 2 [2020]
During 2020, PAWKids saw the need in the Community for a food pantry. It was a known factor that the Grove Park Community is a food desert. The pandemic created a perfect storm as low income earners lost their jobs and had no access to transportation. The food pantry, "Claudia's House" provides pre-cooked meals, shelf stable products, and fresh vegetables and fruit.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$228.6KProgram 3 [2020]
